Dunster Castle Exmoor Somerset impressive gatehouse built in the Medieval time, the castle is the home of the Luttrell family for over 600 years. It run by the National Trust, there is also a 18th Century watermill and a riverside wooded garden, and also dog friendly but must be on a short lead.
A ruined by the bank of Loch Awe, it was constructed in the 15th Century and was owned by the Campbells of Glenorchy.
This is one of the finest of the mighty fortresses built by Henry V111 to defend the Country against invasion. The castle has seen action in many conflicts and was one of the last Royalist strongholds to fall during the English Civil war. The castle is now run by English Heritage.
Tarbert Castle was a strategic Royal stronghold during the Middle Ages. The castle overlooks the harbour and has a very commanding view of the water approaches. In 1320 Robert the Bruce protect it against the Lords of the Isles.
