850 Lord Nelson

850 Lord Nelson

Lord Nelson 850 was built in 1926, designed for the Southern railway. There were sixteen locomtives constructed in the S R class type 4 cylinder 4-6-0 all named after famous Admirals. They were withdrdrawn from services between 1961 and 1962, only one was saved from the scrapyard The Lord Nelson, and now can be seen running on the mainlines tours and preserved railways throughout Britain. I took the photo in the yard on the Watercress line.
